Last Tuesday, October the 28th, a group of 2º BACHILLERATO Students together with teachers of the Department of English at CCEE Reyes Católicos attended a drama session at the “COLEGIO AGUSTINIANO, Ciudad Salitre, Bogotá”.
Our students shared this drama experience with other students from different schools in Bogotá. We all enjoyed Shakespeare´s ROMEO AND JULIET . It was performed by “THE PERFORMERS EDUCATIONAL PLAYS, a drama company that follows the tradition of the ENGLISH TEACHING THEATRE.
This is the story of Romeo and Juliet, two young citizens of Verona who fall in love in spite of the rivalry and hatred that exists between their two families: the Montagues and the Capulets. They secretly agree to marry with the help of Friar Laurence, who believes this union would help to heal the enmity between both families. Unfortunately, Romeo ends up in a fight with Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, who dies.
As a consequence, Romeo is banished from Verona and goes into hiding. Meanwhile, the Capulets are planning Juliet’s marriage to Paris, a nobleman. Will Juliet obey her parent’s wishes? Will the two lovers meet again? Will it be too late to bring the two families together? A story of love, honour and sorrow.
